Who we areProfessor IRVINE GERSCH, Professor IRVINE GERSCH is the Director of Programmes in Educational and Child Psychology at the University of East London. Before this, he worked as a teacher, in both primary and secondary schools, and as an educational psychologist. He has worked as a senior educational psychologist, deputy principal educational psychologist and then, for more than 15 years as Principal Educational Psychologist for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. He has published widely in book chapters and articles on subjects including systemic work in schools, behaviour management, teacher and educational psychologist stress, training in educational psychology, the future of the profession, pupil involvement and listening to children, mediation and conciliation in special educational needs, arts therapies and post-traumatic and critical incidents. Whilst Principal Educational Psychologist for the London Borough of Waltham Forest he pioneered one of the first conciliation services in the UK, and gave many national presentations, keynotes and talks about this venture, which was also the topic of publication. He thus gained enormous experience in working in the area of special needs, and now provides both consultation and training to the mediator team at Global Mediation.
