MARTIN FORDE K.C. EXPERIENCE In my early career my practice included, crime, family, administrative, employment, personal injury, landlord and tenant, contract and personal injury law as well as representing litigants in Inquests. After about eight years in practice, I began to specialise in all aspects of health-related law - employment, administrative law involving regulators, clinical negligence and human rights law and personal injury. My cases are predominantly cases involving birth injuries of maximum severity with values of between £15-30M. In the regulatory field I have represented doctors, dentists, nurses, osteopaths, chiropractors, optometrists, pharmacists, and veterinarians. • 2006 I was appointed Queen’s Counsel • 2009 I was appointed Recorder of the Crown Court (part-time criminal judge). I resigned in 2024. • 2012 I was appointed as a Judicial Appointments Commissioner, a Commission of 15 persons who appoint full and part-time judges and tribunal legal Chairs. • 2021 I was made an Honorary Fellow of Brasenose College, Oxford. • 2022 I was named Professional Discipline Silk of the Year by Chambers and Partners • 2022 I was appointed Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda (the equivalent of a High Court Judge). • 2023 October I was appointed Chair of the London Fire Brigade Advisory Panel Advisory Panel on Cultural Change. MEDIATION EXPERIENCE I have conducted mediations in civil matters, commercial and personal injury as I am an ADR accredited mediator. I have been a party to mediations as counsel in complex clinical negligence and Court of Appeal matters on over forty to fifty occasions. I have been involved in personal injury and employment mediations as a legal advisor/counsel. PROJECTS • April 2018 I was appointed the Independent Adviser to The Windrush Compensation Scheme by Sajid Javid the then Home Secretary and remained in that post until the Summer of 2022. • May 2020 I was appointed Chair (by the National Executive Council of the Labour Party), of the Investigatory Panel • September 2022 I was appointed, with Professor Iqbal Singh to conduct a review into the General Medical Council’s handling of a dishonesty allegation – The Arora Review, published in November 2022.
