TESSA HERMAN Mediator since 2014 Senior Mediator Civil Mediation Council Registered Member SPECIALIST AREAS: PERSONAL INJURY, CLINICAL NEGLIGENCE Tessa is an experienced mediator having qualified in 2014 as a civil & commercial mediator with a particular focus on personal injury and clinical negligence mediations. She has been mediating clinical negligence cases under the NHSR scheme since 2019. PROFESSIONAL Tessa is an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor having qualified in 1998. She spent 14 years at leading personal injury law firm, Irwin Mitchell developing a particular expertise in high value Claimant Catastrophic Injury cases especially brain injury in both adults and children, securing numerous multi million pound awards both in and out of Court. She was well regarded as an expert in this particular field by counsel, experts and rehabilitation professionals gaining accreditation through APIL as a Fellow. In 2012 Tessa left Irwin Mitchell to set up her own legal consultancy, providing expert legal support to firms with Complex Injury litigation including Clinical Negligence on a consultancy basis. She also provided expert witness training through Bond Solon. She is now a Non-Practising Solicitor. Tessa qualified as an Accredited Civil, Commercial and Workplace Mediator in 2014. In 2015, she joined London School of Mediation providing accredited mediation training and coaching worldwide for over a decade. In 2021 she qualified as a Special Educational Needs Mediator, mediating in excess of 150 disputes between parents and Local Authorities. She is a Global Mediation Panel mediator. She is a member of the Civil Mediation Council. MEDIATION EXPERIENCE Clinical negligence/Personal injury mediations include: • Clinical negligence - negligent insertion of cannula (Litigant in person) • Clinical negligence - negligent plastic surgery. • Clinical negligence - mismanagement of diabetes resulting in loss of vision. • Clinical negligence - failure to diagnose cancer resulting in death. • Clinical negligence - Neonatal death. • Clinical negligence - death + secondary victim claim. • Clinical negligence - failure to investigate a DVT. • Clinical negligence - negligent orthopaedic surgery. • Clinical negligence - mismanagement of psychiatric illness resulting in suicide • Clinical negligence - misdiagnosis resulting in fatality • Personal injury - psychological injury arising from voyeurism • Personal Injury - sports injury • Personal Injury - negligent application of beauty product
